Honey Creek Farms Wedding - Hailey + Garrett

A beautiful barn, a gorgeous outdoor ceremony with a wooded background, and perfect shades of navy and pink were just a few of the amazing details of Hailey and Garrett's wedding at Honey Creek Farms in Dandridge, Tennessee.

The farm features a lovely bridal suite where Hailey and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day together while the guys had a hidden room on the second floor of the barn to get ready. The lighting both inside and outside the barn created a romantic atmosphere, and we loved that many of the special dances took place outside under the glow of the full moon and the perfectly strung garden lights.

We loved that Hailey purchased her dress from a trunk show, Brides Against Cancer, so that a portion of the purchase went to charity. This just made us adore her even more, and Hailey and Garrett's fun loving personalities shone on their wedding from their first look to the newlywed shoe game they played at the reception, which ended with an insanely entertaining dance off between the two. We are super excited to share this glimpse into their day, and we wish them a huge congratulations, again.

Aprill & Calvin - Downtown Nashville Maternity

It was such a honor to travel to Nashville last week to take these maternity photos for my great friends, Calvin and Aprill. This couple wanted a stylish, elegant shoot, and this clear and sunny Monday evening was the perfect time to capture sweet moments celebrating their first child after our first shoot was rained out. Everything happens for a reason, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to explore downtown Nashville with such an awesome couple. You can clearly see the love and joy that Calvin and Aprill share, but I think you can also tell how fun this couple is from the more playful shots included.

Congratulations, Calvin and Aprill!

Enjoy these photos!

How to Photograph Art & Lighting Techniques

Hello friends and photography enthusiasts,

This past week I was asked to photograph some paintings for a friend. This would be my first experience with art photography, but I already knew that I would need a good lighting set up to do it. Luckily my uncle, Michael Messing of Michael Messing Photography, was available to help with the lighting set up. We used 2 strobe lights set up at a 45 degree angle from the paintings with the camera placed in the center.

Diagrams of the set up:

To make sure we had the correct amount of light hitting the paintings, we tested each corner of the painting to see if the light was evenly hitting the picture. The light meter showed us what aperture to set the camera to for best results.

Setup: For these shots of the paintings we used the sync speed of my camera to the flash which was 1/200 shutter speed. The aperture was set at f10 and ISO at 100 for best results without introducing digital noise. My camera, the Nikon D610 with the 24-70mm f2.8 was zoomed all the way to 70mm to flatten the image as much as possible. You could even go higher using a 70-200mm lens to further the flattening.

When creating digital prints of paintings, you want them to to look exactly like the originals with no glare from the flash, and the color has to be on point.White balance is key! I shot in RAW format so I could make any changes necessary later if needed, but if I was shooting in JPEG format, I would have to make sure that everything was exact. Before taking the first shot, I used my white balance cards and had Michael hold them up in front if the painting.

I took a test shot of the cards in the frame, so I could use this shot later to correct white balance in Lightroom when cropping the paintings and correcting the color.

Once we had everything where we needed it, it was time to take the photos of the paintings. Every shot was framed so that the focus point was in the middle of the picture with little surrounding area. The way to do this is to keep the lens zoomed in but move the Tripod forward or backward depending on how much you are trying to take out. This makes it so that you will not have much cropping to do later on.

Here are a few examples of Maria Walker's Art. If you like her work and would like to purchase a print copy of the art, please leave a comment below, and I will get you in touch with her.

Juicebeats Updates

It's been a little while since I have been able to write a blog entry. I am sorry to my loyal fans that haven't heard from me recently. If you haven't seen some of the updates from my facebook, my wife and I are expecting our first child. Jaden's due date is March 11.

In the past few months, I have been working on new music from Jonny D, Quentin Turner, and Coach Stowers.

I have also been doing a lot of photography: portraits, landscapes, and lifestyle.

I recently finished a new music video by Coach Stowers "Extra Chances," a promotional video for Petrone Training, various highlight reels for high school athletes, acting reels for up and coming actors, and short films about my life and other special events.

I also produced a radio commercial that will be played during the first few weeks of February for the rapper K Camp coming to Knoxville for a concert on February 14th.  Whewww... I know it's a lot along with my full time job. I keep myself busy, so I guess you can see why it's been hard for me to write as much as I was last year. I am also still working on my documentary of my grandparents story from the Holocaust. I am currently looking for any pictures from the war that I can add to my film. If you would like to donate any copies of pictures from that time please contact me at

or you can got to my contact page and submit through there.
